Phi Phi Islands Destination Guide

The Phi Phi Islands are some of the best parts of Thailand to visit. These islands are located on the southwestern part of the country. All sorts of exciting activities can be found along these pristine islands usually referred to as one island as two are actually connected by the stretch of sand made famous in the Leonardo DiCaprio movie “The Beach”.

There are six islands in this chain. The two most prominent of these are Phi Phi Don to the north and Phi Phi Leh to the south. All of these islands are found in the southwestern area of Thailand between Phuket and the Andaman Sea.

Getting to the islands is very easy with various boat services that are offered from other points in the area.

A variety of different types of birds are found around the islands In addition to traditional birds like the egret and heron unique types like the finfoot and bittern can be found by bird watchers The lack of development in some parts of the islands have helped to keep these birds thriving..

Diving is especially popular. Many nearby dive sites that feature unique underwater bodies of coral and all types of fish. Sailing, kayaking, cliff jumping and fishing activities are also popular.

Many festivals are also held along these islands during much of the year. Every November the Krabi Boek Fa Andaman Festival is held. This is an event that features a variety of water sports activities and music performances. Another event is the Lanta Lanta Festival. This March festival is a celebration of traditional culture that features music, foods and water sports.

In short the Phi Phi Islands are great places to see in Thailand. These are islands that are home to all sorts of unique animals and events as well as plenty of water based activities.
