Family Holidays In Sharm el Sheikh
Warm sunny days, beautiful turquoise water and some of the best diving in the world are only a small part of what makes Sharm el Sheikh one of the best holiday resorts for the entire family. Located on the Sinai Peninsula of Egypt, the area offers visitors an unmatched variety of activities along with a wide selection of accommodations and the stunning natural beauty of the region.
The main attraction most people come to Sharm el Sheikh for is, of course, the beautiful Red Sea and its wonderful beaches. Along with enjoying the sun and relaxation, scuba diving and snorkeling are favorite pastimes here and with good reason! The Red Sea Riviera, as the area is known, is renowned as a full service diver’s resort. One of the main reasons for its popularity with divers is the amazing diversity of sea life and its stunning coral reef system. Home to a unique ecosystem, the marine reserve of Jackson Reef is located where the Gulf of Suez and the Gulf of Aqaba meet. Divers frequently encounter such marine creatures as sea turtles, schools of puffer fish, sharks and many others. For more advanced divers, wreck diving has become a very popular sport and Sharm el Sheikh has plenty of sites for enjoying this pastime as well.
Away from the surf there is a myriad of fun and recreation available for the entire family. With thousands of square miles of desert near by, a great way to get out and enjoy the natural beauty of the dunes is going for a ride on a quad bike! A wonderful adventure for the entire family, there are a number of tour operators that will be happy to guide you to interesting destinations in the surrounding desert. Visit Bedouin camps where you will be greeted by friendly Bedouin and enjoy a cup of delicious tea or stay for a Bedouin barbecue depending on the hour. Then go for a camel ride before heading out toward the rugged beauty of the Sinai Mountains for some fabulous photo opportunities. Just remember to wear sun glasses or goggles and a head scarf to protect you from the sun and blowing sand! Afternoon tours are especially nice, allowing for the return trip after sunset and the opportunity to view the stars under the wide open sky. It’s truly spectacular!
No vacation is complete without a bit of souvenir hunting. In Sharm el Sheikh, Old Town is just the spot! Shopping in Old Town is not for the timid, but definitely the place to find some great bargains. The Old Town area has a traditional market where haggling is the norm but frills are not in abundance. The area offers an authentic shopping experience in true Egyptian style. There are some good cafes to be found in Old Town and prices are reasonable. Naama Bay also offers a nice selection of shops and boutiques but the prices are higher than in Old Town.
These are just a few of the attractions awaiting visitors take holidays in Sharm el Sheikh!
